On May 3^rd, 2023, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, Taylorsville Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and Homeland Security Investigations conducted a two month investigation on Darnell Stanley Spears of Taylorsville.  A traffic stop was conducted on Highway 16 south near the Fairgrounds Rd in Taylorsville.  Officers located a large amount of pressed pills in the vehicle with Spears.  A search warrant was also conducted at Spears residence located in the Ellendale community where more pills was seized.

Darnell Stanley Spears B/M, age 28 of Taylorsville, was arrested and charged with Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver schedule IV controlled substance in a vehicle, Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver schedule IV controlled substance in a home, Maintain a residence to sell controlled substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Misdemeanor child abuse.  Spears is being held in the Alexander County Detention under a $50,000.00 secured bond with a first appearance on May 8^th, 2023 in District Court.

Evidence

On May 1, 2023, at around 11:40 am the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a possible stolen vehicle in the area of Old Mountain Village in the Hiddenite Community. While conducting the investigation, Officers located stolen property at the address along with other items of evidence. Anthony Dorland W/M, age 42 of Hickory, ran from Officers and was not located, warrants have been issued for Dorland. The 5 individuals listed below was arrested at the residence for the charges listed. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into this case.

All five were arrested for 2 counts of Possession of Stolen Goods/Property and placed under a $20,000 secured bond with a scheduled first appearance on May 2nd, 2023.
