The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, Taylorsville Police Department, and the Alexander County Crime Stoppers organization will be partnering again this year to host the 5th annual National Night Out Against Crime event in Alexander County. This event will be held on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017 from 5pm until 9pm at the Taylorsville Lion’s Club Fairgrounds on NC Highway 16 South. The event is open to the entire community and will feature free hotdogs, popcorn, and bottled water (while supplies last), live entertainment will be provided (details and lineup to follow).
This year we will again be offering Wendy’s Chicken Sandwiches and Wendy’s Frosty’s for sale (courtesy of Wendy’s of Troutman) as well as canned soft drinks. There will be a kid’s area with bounce house / slide combo attractions, various emergency vehicle displays, an authentic Chuck Wagon display with free food sampling courtesy of the Cowboy Church, local race cars on display, a free hayride, and other displays.
We hope that you will make plans to attend this fun-filled family event and take the opportunity to meet and mingle with local law enforcement and your neighbors. Join us as we celebrate National Night Out 2017, “Alexander County’s Night Out Against Crime”!
Live entertainment will be provided this year by Ten-Eighteen Band and Shakedown Band.
Ten-Eighteen is a local group comprised of current and former law enforcement and emergency services workers playing classic rock and roll. Ten-Eighteen will take the stage from 5:30pm until 6:30pm.
Shake Down is a six-piece variety band located in the foothills of North Carolina.
Combining a mixture of both “past” and “present” in both talent and music, they perform a wide variety of music including beach, shag, rock’n’roll, funk, Motown, country, and top 40. Shakedown will take the stage from 7pm until 9pm.
Both bands will play at the main stage located adjacent to the exhibit hall. Those who attend National Night Out will be given a free door prize ticket at the entry gate. A drawing will be held at the main stage during intermission (time to be announced at the event). Bring a lawn chair and enjoy some free live entertainment by our local talent!
Food & Beverages
Hotdogs, popcorn, and bottle water will be handed out free of charge to those who attend the event (while supplies last). Wendy’s Crispy Chicken Sandwiches, Jr. Frosty’s, and can drinks will be available for purchase for $1 each. All proceeds generated during the event directly benefit Alexander County Crime Stoppers, a local non-profit resource partner with law enforcement. All food items will be available at the fairgrounds cook shack.
Emergency Vehicle Displays
Various emergency vehicles and other equipment will be on display during the event this year. This will be a great time for the young and young at heart to get a closeup look at some of the vehicles that emergency responders use to keep our community safe and fro you to tell those workers “thank you” for the jobs they do to protect us all daily.
Every year our planning committee works to improve upon the previous year’s event. This year we are pleased to announce some additional displays that we plan to have for National Night Out. If you or your kids love race cars be sure to check out two local teams that we plan to have on display! Casey Iverson will also be at this year’s event to display and talk about his pulling tractor.
