Officers with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office are investigating copper wiring thefts that occured recently in the Old Wilkesboro Rd area near the Highway 16 North Propst Superette store. Thieves entered two houses and removed nearly 1600 feet of copper wiring sometime in the last 24 hours. The Sheriff’s Office is advising all poultry house owners to keep careful watch on their houses, especially after flocks have been taken out as they often appear as easy targets for thieves looking for opportunities. Anyone who may have seen a suspicious vehicle or persons around poultry houses in the Old Wilkesboro & Highway 16 North area within the last 24 hours is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 828-632-4658.
